The PlayStation Network is currently experiencing an outage, causing PS5 and PS4 gamers to go offline.
Gamers looking to spend an evening playing on their PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 4 may be out of luck unless they enjoy single-player experiences (have you tried Astro Bot?). Sony's gaming network is currently experiencing a massive outage on Monday night.
The official PSN Service Status page confirms that there are problems affecting everything: "Other, PS Vita, PS3, PS4, PS5, Web.” If it’s PlayStation, it's not working. The most recent update, posted at 9:21 PM ET, mentions that for gaming, “You might have difficulty launching games, apps, or network features. We’re working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. I appreciate your patience.”
On my end, when I tried to launch a game, I encountered “PS5 error Code WS-116522-7.” The associated webpage from Sony informed me that “The system software update failed.”
Players are unable to sign in, play multiplayer games, or access single-player games that require online connection and sign-in (offline games are functioning properly).operly).
Currently, there is no information about the cause of the issue, and there is no estimated time for when it might be fixed. It doesn't appear to be related to the bug that was affecting the home screen artwork for PS5 games, which was fixed a few hours ago. We will keep you updated once we have more information.
