ORLANDO, Fla. - Floridians are bracing for Hurricane Milton, which has strengthened into a strong Category 5 in the Gulf of Mexico and is heading toward Florida's Gulf Coast.
Some Florida counties have ordered mandatory evacuations in advance of Milton, especially for those living in low-lying, flood-prone areas. Here's a list of evacuations as they're announced.
Marion County Evacuations
Marion County has ordered a mandatory evacuation for all residents of mobile homes, trailers, modular homes and homes built before 1994.
"Those living in these homes should know that emergency responders will not come to them until it is safe for them to be there. Residents are advised to first seek shelter with relatives or friends who live in a house built after 1994 to ensure it complies with modern building regulations.”
