jacksonville jaguars vs chicago bears match player stats

Tony Boselli, Jaguars analyst and former Jaguars left tackle

The Jaguars will win if: They rely on the run early to take pressure off Lawrence and the passing game. The Bears have one of the better pass defenses in the NFL, so playing one-dimensional won't work. Defensively, the Jags need to pressure Williams. When he has time, he's very effective, but he likes to hold the ball.

The Bears will win if: They protect Williams and allow him to get comfortable in the pocket. The Bears offense struggles when the quarterback is pressured, leading to turnovers and negative plays. Defensively, they need to shut down the Jaguars' running game.

How Boselli sees it: This will be a tough, close game. The Jaguars just got their first win of the season and should come to London with a lot of confidence. Jaguars 24, Bears 21.

Frank Frangie, Jaguars radio voice

The Jaguars will win if: They stick to the formula that got them their first win last week. The deep throws to Thomas and wide receiver Christian Kirk are there. And they lead to running routes for Bigsby and Etienne. Lawrence was great - he found a rhythm. The key is to keep that rhythm.

The Bears will win if: They stay hot too. Williams was very good last Sunday against the Carolina Panthers. This could be a battle of two young talents. And Moore is the Bears' answer to Thomas.

How Frangie sees it: Both teams have gained confidence from their performances last week. Both can throw the ball around. Both are improving on defense. The key could be that most of the Jags' players are comfortable with the trip to London while the Bears' players are not. That could make the difference in a close game.

Jeff Lageman, Jaguars analyst and former Jaguars defensive end

The Jaguars will win if: They continue the high-level performance of the offense. Lawrence had a masterful game against the Colts and that will have to continue to beat the Bears.

The Bears will win if: They win the turnover battle. Williams has protected the ball well the last two weeks and if he continues to do that, they will continue to win.

How Lageman sees it: This is a tough game that is very evenly matched with two former No. 1 overall picks at the top. Williams is special with his ability to extend plays and will put pressure on the Jaguars defense. The Jaguars defense should come up with something after the late collapse against the Colts. The Jaguars offense will have to play at a high level again to win this game.

Brent Martineau, Action Sports Jax Sports Director

The Jaguars will win if: They win time of possession. They haven't done that yet in 2024, and while the explosive plays were good, it could be a game where the Jaguars can control the pace of the game and pull out the win.

The Bears will win if they score 24 points or more. Chicago's magic number was 21 points most of last year. The defense usually doesn't allow more than 21 points, so if the Bears can get a few points on the scoreboard, the math works out for them. The Jaguars have allowed a touchdown on the first drive in four straight games.

How Martineau sees it: It's hard to tip this game, but let's bet on the trends. The Jaguars might have found something last week, and we all know they should be better than 1-4. The Bears are good but not great, and they're missing some key players on defense while the Jaguars return tight end Evan Engram. The Jaguars do enough and win for the seventh straight time in October, 27-22.

John Oehser, jaguars.com Senior Writer

The Jaguars will win if: The offensive line continues to improve and the defensive line can contain Williams - and keep him - in check. The Jaguars' offense has been stronger in the last two games than it has in the previous three. It's no coincidence that those were the offensive line's two best games of the season.

The Bears will win if: Williams escapes pressure and turns his opportunities into big plays. The No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft shows special qualities and is already capable of turning disaster into opportunity. He's the kind of player who can hurt a defense even when it's playing well.

How Oehser sees it: This is a tough game for the Jaguars - especially because the Bears are much better than most teams with a rookie quarterback selected No. 1. The defense needs to play its best game of the season and the Jaguars need to turn London back into their advantage.

J.P. Shadrick, jaguars.com Senior Reporter

The Jaguars will win if: They continue the offensive production like last week. It started with a clean pocket for Lawrence that allowed for big plays down the field. The Bears have a lot of defensive talent, so this will be a test. If Lawrence, wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. and Bigsby all have career days, that should mean an easy win. However, the defense struggled on defense in the fourth quarter last week. Don't get comfortable with Williams, and don't be fooled by the Bears' veteran playmakers like D.J. Moore, Keenan Allen and Cole Kmet.

The Bears will win if: Williams has time to back up his veteran playmakers and his confidence continues to rise. If the Jaguars don't hit him early and often, his confidence could rise even more. Since 1970, rookie quarterbacks selected No. 1 have a 0-5 record when facing a 32nd-ranked pass defense (like the Jaguars).

How Shadrick sees it: Let's see how the Jags adjust to this week's game after the slight delay in leaving Jacksonville following Hurricane Milton. The Bears have been here most of the week and should be well-adjusted by Sunday. The Jaguars won both games in London last year. That was the start of a five-game winning streak that included wins at five different stadiums in five weeks.
