The 98th annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade will return on November 28, featuring 22 giant balloons, 34 awesome floats, 7-wheeled "balloons" and more.
NBC's "TODAY" show, starring Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb and Al Roker, will reenact the 2024 parade.
What is the parade route?
The parade begins at West 77th Street and Central Park West at 8:30 a.m. ET and ends at the Macy's flagship store at Herald Square on 34th Street at 12:00 p.m. ET.
There are 2.5 miles of designated public viewing areas along the 2024 route. Spectators are encouraged to arrive by 6:00 a.m. to get the best spots.
Thursday’s forecast in New York City calls for rain, so bring your poncho!
Central Park West: Spectacular views can be found along Central Park West from West 75th Street to West 61st Street. However, there are no public tours of Central Park West between West 59th Street and West 60th Street.
6th Avenue: The stretch from West 59th Street to West 38th Street offers the best views closest to the end of the parade, but spectators should avoid the area of 6th Avenue between West 34th Street and West 38th Street, where visibility is limited.
Who will perform this year?
28 exciting performers, 11 marching bands, 28 clown groups and 11 performance groups will appear in the nearly four-hour parade.
Stars including Jennifer Hudson, Lea Salling, T-Pain, Rachel Platten, Idina Menzel, Dan + Shaw and The Temptations will perform, along with dancers and TikToker Charli D'Amelio and ballet stars Tyler Peck and Roman Mejia.
Members of the WNBA champion New York Liberty will also appear, along with mascot Eli the Elephant.
Broadway's best will showcase their skills, including the cast of the musicals "Death Becomes Her," "Hell's Kitchen" and "The Outsiders."
And don’t miss out, Santa Claus will complete the parade in his famous sleigh, with the parade’s largest float measuring 60 feet long, 22 feet wide and 3 1/2 stories high.
What’s new this year?
Six new balloons have been confirmed for this year’s parade, including Minnie Mouse, the extraordinary Norah and the Elf on the Shelf, and an all-new Spider-Man balloon, inspired by the art of comic book artist John Romita Sr.
Six new floats will also make their parade debut this year, including Haribo’s “Candy Cosmos,” Rao’s Homemade’s “Pasta Night,” The Bronx Zoo’s “Wonderful World of Wildlife,” which will celebrate the zoo’s animals and their exhibits, and Netflix’s “Wednesday’s Feast,” which features a cameo by Jenna Ortega from the hit show.
Three new "balloonicles" have also been created, small balloons that travel routes attached to bicycles.
